I made this violin in 2002 as a commission
for a young violinist from Luxembourg, who asked for a lion's head to
replace the scroll. I took measurements from several Maggini
instruments before settling on this model, which has a rich, powerful
and even sound, bright and open on the E and warm and dark on the
G.
The lion's head carving was done by the German woodcarver Susanne Küster. |
