19th century Mittenwald cello

return to work in progress

It's unusual for me to have an antique cello for sale, but I'm happy to offer this one, which I took in part exchange when I recently sold one of my own cellos.  It's a good example of a Mittenwald cello made during the 19th century, and is in very good condition.  I wanted to present it with a set-up as good as that on my own cellos, so it's spent some time in the workshop while I've fitted a new fingerboard to replace the rather thin original, and reshaped the neck to make it as comfortable as possible to play.  I have also fitted a new bridge and soundpost; the instrument now has a warm, even sound.  The cello is now for sale at £6000.  If you're interested in more information, or would like to arrange to try the cello, please contact me.
